Price rises hit Ford Ranger and Ford Everest
NVES lands a blow, V6 Everest up a solid $900 as engine costs also impactWhile a $5000 hike for the Ford Mustang is creating headlines, the prices of the top-selling, Aussie-designed Thai-built Ford Ranger ute and Ford Everest SUV have risen.
The Ranger line-up and four-cylinder Everest models climb $250, while the popular and critically acclaimed Everest V6 has gone up by a more significant $900.
The new Ranger PHEV’s value is unchanged.
The pricing went up July 1, the same day Australia’s new NVES (New Vehicle Efficiency Standard) CO2 reduction scheme began tallying up penalties and credits across the auto industry.
As per Mustang, it appears NVES is playing a role in these rises, along with other factors such as shipping, logistics cost, exchange rates, market dynamics and market demand.
The Ranger’s minor price rises reflect the large number of sales that potential NVES penalties can be amortised across.
The Ranger was top seller in Australia in 2023 and 2024 and remains on top halfway through 2025.
The Everest V6 has copped its more substantial price rise with the same justification as the Ranger and Everest four-cylinder.
But carsales understands a significant outstripping of supply by demand and additional production costs for the V6 engine are also contributors.
More than 13,000 examples of the Lion V6 powering 2022-2025 Rangers and Everests were recalled by Ford Australia in April due to a crankshaft sprocket manufacturing fault which may cause the engine to stall.
It is unknown if ramifications from the recall relate to the production cost increase on Everest, which has lower sales than Ranger to amortise costs over.
Like the Everest (and Ranger) it powers, the Lion V6 is assembled in Rayong, Thailand.
