Proton slashes Preve pricing

Small Malaysian sedan now costs less than most light cars following $3000 price cut

Proton Cars Australia has trimmed $3000 from the price of its Preve small sedan just six months after it was launched here in January.

The new price of just $15,990 drive-away (down from $18,990 drive-away) makes the Preve cheaper than the starting price of almost every light-sized hatchback when on-road costs are factored in.

However, it now includes five years of capped-price servicing – rather than free servicing for five years – and applies only to the five-speed manual version. The six-speed CVT-equipped Preve four-door costs $2000 more at $17,990 drive-away and Proton says those prices are available only for a limited time.

Now billed as Australia’s most affordable small car, the Preve was the first Proton to achieve a maximum five-star ANCAP safety rating and also comes with a five-year warranty and five years of roadside assist.

Standard safety equipment comprises six airbags (including dual front, dual side and full-length side curtain airbags), electronic stability/traction control, anti-lock brakes, active front head restraints, reversing sensors and an automatic, speed-sensitive door locking/unlocking system.

Riding on ‘Lotus-tuned’ suspension, the Preve also comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, central locking and steering wheel audio and phone controls.

“These days everyone is seeking excellent value and keeping an eye on their spending,” said PCA General Manager of Sales and Marketing, Billy Falconer.

“With this special offer we have Australia’s most affordable small car ... I am very pleased that Proton is delivering five-star value to Australian car buyers.”
