Qoros 3 City SUV unveiled

New crossover SUV will launch in China, but is earmarked also for Europe
The third stroke in the new product plan for Chinese brand Qoros has been revealed at the Guangzhou motor show this week.
Named Qoros 3 City SUV 1.6T, the new model is a crossover SUV based on the same platform underpinning the Qoros 3 sedan and hatch models. Developed with one eye on European markets, the SUV will go on sale first in the People's Republic of China before the end of the year, priced at RMB 140,000 – AUD $26,443.
A 1.6-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine is situated under the bonnet, and is rated at 115kW and 210Nm. The torque peaks across a plateau from 1750 to 5000rpm. Mounted transversely, the engine is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission in the entry-level grade, driving to the front wheels. A six-speed dual-clutch transmission is standard in the other three grades. Fuel consumption is 6.8L/100km for the manual or 6.9L/100km for the dual-clutch City SUV models. Acceleration to 100km/h takes 10.8 seconds for the dual-clutch variants.
Measuring 4452mm in length and riding on a 2694mm wheelbase that's 5mm longer than the hatch's, the City SUV has also been widened and raised 67mm higher than the hatch for an improved view ahead in China's urban jungle. The City SUV is underpinned by MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. A combination of ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the rear take care of braking and the steering system is an electrically-assisted rack-and-pinion set-up. Depending on the level of trim specified, the City SUV is fitted with 17- or 18-inch wheels.
In its home market the City SUV will be sold in four levels of trim: Active, Style, Style Plus and Excite, with Active the base grade. All models will come equipped as standard with a 60:40 split-fold rear seat, 'Qoros MMH' multimedia infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming, electric windows/mirrors, keyless start and air conditioning.
City SUV Style additionally features dual-zone climate control, cruise control, a reversing camera and a premium connected services system (QorosQloud) incorporating satellite navigation. Style Plus models also come with leather seat trim, heated and electrically adjustable front seat, fold-in mirrors, tyre pressure monitoring and a sunroof.
As the flagship model, the City SUV Excite offers xenon headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, chilled glovebox, keyless entry/start, auto on/off headlights, guidelines for the reversing camera and ambient lighting in the cabin.
Buyers can choose from a selection of five colours: Crystal White (solid), Starlight Black, Diamond Silver, Shimmer Grey and Sunrise Red (all metallic).
