MG has dropped a mystery teaser for an all-new mid-size SUV called the 2026 MG Cyber X.
Due to be unwrapped at the Shanghai motor show on April 23, the model could well preview the brand’s next-gen design language that will go on to inspire all future MG models.
Posted on Chinese social media, the new MG Cyber X is said to have been created to echo the “spirit of young people to explore”.
Primed to be the most radical MG since the Cyberster roadster, the first shadowy teaser reveals a boxy SUV that might have been created to head off the inbound Mercedes baby g-Class battery-powered off-roader.
Featuring a bluff front end, full-width LED light bar, upright windscreen, pronounced arches front and rear and new LED rear light bar that displays a new graphic, the all-new Cyber X looks like no other MG currently produced.
If MG indeed does have the baby G-Wagon in its sights the new MG Cyber X could become the brand’s new flagship model, sitting above both the smaller MG HS and MG S5 EV and with a price tag above the $115,000 (plus on-road costs) charged for the Cyberster.
While there’s no word on what will power the new Cyber X, it’s hotly tipped to ride on parent company SAIC’s next-generation E3 architecture and will also feature MG’s new cell-to-body battery technology to save weight and liberate more space within the cabin.
Advanced new chassis tech, including active suspension and all-new powertrains, could also be on the menu for the MG Cyber X, but expect more to be teased in the build-up to its debut in Shanghai.
