Recall wrap: Front suspension defect for Mitsubishi Pajero

Mitsubishi has announced a safety recall for 6384 units of the NX-series Mitsubishi Pajero sold in Australia between November 21, 2016 and July 30, 2019.

The vehicles affected, all MY2017-18 models, can suffer from improper welding during the manufacturing process. In the event a weld breaks, the front right lower control arm could fail, resulting in increased "risk of an accident or injury to all road users".

Mitsubishi is mailing owners to recommend they take the subject vehicles to the nearest servicing dealer to have the weld repaired. Further information is available by phoning a consumer helpline, 1800 931 811.

Meantime, a 'critical' recall notice has been extended for locally-manufactured and imported Holden Cruze models and the imported Barina hatch and Trax SUV to have the 'alpha' Takata airbags in their vehicles replaced at the earliest juncture.

In total, 1834 vehicles are affected, comprising the Cruze built in Australia between February 2009 and September 2009, the imported Cruze MY2011-16, Holden Barina MY2012-18 and Holden Trax MY2012-18.

Holden insists that owners of the locally-built Cruze fitted with an airbag six years old or more must cease driving the vehicle immediately and arrange for the replacement of the potentially lethal airbag.

If necessary, the manufacturer will arrange for the vehicle to be towed to the nearest servicing dealer. Owners may make further enquiries by phoning 1800 632 826 or contacting the nearest dealer.

Finally this week, Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall notice for the GLE, CLA, C-Class, E-Class and S-Class models for the 2019 model year.

The importer is recalling 675 vehicles affected by a brake assist software fault that may result in a radar sensor control unit failing.

Owners of the vehicles, sold in Australia between March 1, 2019 and July 30, 2019, are advised to arrange a software upload from the nearest authorised servicing dealer.
