Refreshed 2025 Genesis Electrified G80 gets stretched

Larger and longer facelifted battery-powered limo also gets a bigger battery and an enhanced cabin

Genesis Australia has released full details for its refreshed 2025 Genesis Electrified G80 luxury sedan, which arrives with a new long-wheelbase body, a bigger battery, more range, and an overhauled cabin offering more in-car tech.

The catch is that when deliveries begin later this year, the new Genesis Electrified G80 will cost $155,000 plus on-road costs – a $9442 increase over the previous version.

Now offered in a single Genesis Electrified G80 Signature AWD trim, the headline news is the Korean BMW i5 rival gets a wheelbase that’s 130mm longer than before, benefitting both legroom and headroom in the second row.

Powered by a new 94.5kWh battery (up from 87.2kWh), the Electrified G80’s claimed cruising range is boosted from 520km to 570km.

Thanks to DC fast charging with a peak rate of up to 350kW, a 10 to 80 per cent top-up takes 25 minutes.

Driven by a pair of dual motors that produce 272kW and 700Nm, Genesis claims 0-100km/h takes just 5.1 seconds.

Inside the limo-like Electrified G80 Genesis now benefits from a huge 27-inch OLED display. Stretching across the dash, it incorporates the instrument cluster and infotainment system and integrates with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other new additions include a powerful 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system (replacing the old car’s 20-speaker system), a UV-C sanitising centre console, and a pair of new, more comfortable Ergo Motion front and rear seats.

Power-operated rear doors and a new steering-wheel-mounted shortcut to silence the Intelligent Speed Limit Assist have also been added.

To help offset the new longer dimensions that see the big Genesis measure in at a whopping 5135mm long (+130mm), engineers have added agility-boosting rear-wheel steering.

The longer wheelbase adds 80mm more legroom, while an extra 20mm of headroom and a new active road-noise-cancelling system further enhance comfort.

Externally, the refreshed Electrified G80 gets the brand’s latest twin-line Micro Array headlights, a new G-Matrix grille and large 19-inch aero dish-style alloy wheels, plus a new front badge.

Driver-assist tech includes automatic lane changes, enhanced collision avoidance plus a navigation-based adaptive cruise control that automatically adjusts speed to match speed limit information.

The only option on the new Genesis Electrified G80 is premium matte paint that costs an extra $2000.
