Renault Captur RS Line joins local range

F1-inspired looks and some extra toys as headline fresh flagship for small French SUV

Renault Australia has used the arrival of the 2022 Renault Captur line-up to usher in some range-wide price increases for the small SUV as well as a new flagship variant in the form of the RS Line.

With prices now starting from $30,090 plus on-road costs for the base model Life, the Captur range’s entry price has risen $1900, but customers will be relieved to hear that isn’t a range-wide increase.

Now starting from $32,090, the MY22 Renault Captur Zen has gone up $1300 in price, as has the previous range-topping Intens (now from $37,090).

It’s not all bad news though; Renault has offset the price increases through the standard inclusion of adaptive cruise control with stop and go function on all trim levels, including the new RS Line.

Priced from $39,590 and based on the Intens, the new flagship throws in a heap of athletic cosmetic touches including bespoke18-inch alloys, F1-inspired front bumper, dual chrome exhaust outlets, gunmetal-grey trim, front and rear skid plates and the inevitable RS Line badging.

The sporty theme is continued within the cabin too by a smattering of RS Line logos, carbon-look interior trim, alloy sport pedals and contrast red and grey stitching.

To prove it’s also got the substance as well as style over the Intens, the RS Line is the only MY22 Renault Captur to come with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, frameless auto-dimming rear-view mirror, hands-free parking system and automatic high-beam – all features previously included in the Intens’ $2000 ‘Easy Life’ option pack.

The rest of its standard equipment – including the curved 9.3-inch central touch-screen, Bose sound system, 360-degree camera, heated front seats, power adjustable driver’s seat and LED headlights – are all shared with the variant below.

According to Renault Australia general manager Glen Sealey, the Captur RS Line channels the brand’s “strong sporting heritage” as it continues to expand its local product range.

“With strategic additions like this Captur R.S Line, Renault is offering consumers even more choice as we begin to grow the product portfolio,” he said.

“With new commercial vehicles arriving later this year, and the recent well-received reveal of the all-new Megane E-Tech, it’s exciting times ahead for Renault.”

All Capturs continue to power their front wheels with a familiar turbocharged 1.3-litre four-cylinder engine paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and are backed by the brand’s five-year/unlimited-km warranty.
