Renault makes five-year van warranty permanent

French brand extends five-year warranty to commercial van line-up after ‘overwhelming’ customer feedback

A five-year new-vehicle warranty will be permanently offered to Renault Australia’s light commercial van range after a successful trial period, says the French car-maker.

Initially set to be offered from July 1 to August 31, Renault’s five-year/200,000km LCV warranty will be extended indefinitely following “overwhelming customer feedback” about the promotional offer.

Bringing it into line with Renault’s passenger car line-up, which is backed by a five-year/unlimited-km factory warranty for all models, the move covers all three of the brand’s LCV models.

These include the Kangoo (except electric Kangoo ZE, which remains covered by a three-year/100,000km warranty but adds a five-year battery warranty), Trafic and Master vans, and the deal includes five-year capped price servicing and up to five-year service-activated roadside assistance.

As we’ve previously reported, the five-year warranty (up from three-year/unlimited-km) also brings Renault’s van range up to speed with competitors such as the Peugeot Expert, Hyundai iLOAD and the new Mitsubishi Express (which is based on the Trafic) – all of which offer five-year warranty and service programs.

It also beats the popular Toyota HiAce, which only offers a three-year capped-price service scheme and doesn’t include roadside assistance (it’s an extra-cost option).

Renault Australia Aftersales and Quality Director, Matthew Wright said Renault dealers have demonstrated a strong focus on customer safety and security in this challenging environment, thanks to their “knowledge of real-world servicing behaviour and customer demand in showrooms”.

“In these uncertain times, we have seen strong success with this offer already across all three models,” he said.

“The inclusion of a five-year warranty as standard provides more stability and certainty for customers both now and well into the future.”

Wright said Renault has also improved transparency by including nearly all items previously added to the published schedule (air filters, coolant, brake fluid, etc) as standard.

“Working with delivery drivers and small business owners, we know they choose our vans for their ability to go the distance, minimise downtime and maximise convenience,” said Wright.

“Backed up by our 24/7 nationwide roadside assistance, it delivers true peace of mind ownership.”
