Renault Megane RS cops $6100 price increase

And every other Renault model except Kangoo in French brand’s local line-up to rise from March 1

Renault has become the latest car-maker to increase its prices in Australia amid significant COVID-inflicted “material and shipping cost changes”, with its flagship 2022 Renault Megane RS Trophy copping a $6100 hike.

Effective March 1, the price increases are less severe but nonetheless significant across the remainder of the French brand’s local line-up, ranging between $600 and $1900 depending on the model variant.

Only the soon-to-be-replaced Renault Kangoo has been spared.

After the halo hot hatch, the next biggest price jump applies to the 2022 Renault Captur Life (+$1900), while Zen and Intens variants have each risen by $1300.

The top-spec Renault Master LWB Bus automatic is now $1360 more expensive, with the rest of the Master commercial vehicle stable climbing $1100 apiece.

All versions of the smaller Renault Trafic have increased by $1200, while the starting prices of two of the three new Renault Arkana SUVs (Intens and RS Line) have each increased by $1100.

The entry-level Arkana Zen has been limited to a $600 rise, which is the increase that applies to all other models across Renault’s portfolio, except Kangoo.

“The Renault range still represents a premium European offering combined with genuine value thanks to its high levels of safety, technology and cutting-edge design,” said Renault Australia general manager Glen Sealey.

“With strategic additions like the Arkana RS Line, we’re broadening the Renault range in preparation for the product offensive coming soon with a refreshed commercial range, the all-new Megane E-Tech in 2023 and much more to come.”

Other brands to have recently upped prices on key models or across their full range include Mitsubishi, Audi, GWM, Haval, MG, Peugeot, Volkswagen and RAM.
