Renault readies larger Megane line-up
Upgraded and expanded MY13 Megane range to bring GT-Line, Sportwagon and sharper pricingRenault Australia will next month release an upgraded and expanded MY13 Megane small car line-up with revised base pricing and the introduction of new GT-Line and Sportwagon models.
We revealed full details and pricing ($36,990 plus on-road costs) of the range-topping Megane Sport GT 220 Sportwagon here and you can read our first drive of the RenaultSport-developed 162kW/340Nm wagon here.
In addition, however, the MY13 Megane line-up will be expanded via the introduction of new GT-Line versions of the hatchback and coupe-cabriolet, while the new Megane Sportwagon will also be available in GT-Line and Dynamique trim levels.
According to a price list obtained by motoring.com.au a month before launch, opening the range will be the MY13 Megane Expression hatch with a carryover 2.0-litre petrol engine and six-speed CVT automatic transmission for $22,990 plus ORCs – the same price as the manual Megane Dynamique hatch it replaces.
Essentially, for the same sub $23,000 starting price, Renault will offer an automatic Megane hatch with less standard equipment, representing a $2000 saving on the previous entry-level Megane CVT ($24,990).
Next in the MY13 Megane range will be the GT-line hatch, powered by either a 2.0-litre petrol with CVT auto ($26,490) or a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel with six-speed EDC transmission ($28,990).
The 2.0-litre petrol Megane Privilege CVT hatch remains at $29,990 (and at $32,490 for the diesel EDC), but the base Dynamic diesel EDC hatch will be discontinued.
Opening Renault Australia’s first Megane Sportwagon range will be the Dynamique 2.0-litre petrol CVT at $26,490, while the GT-Line Sportwagon will cost $27,990 with the same powertrain -- $9000 less than the limited-edition manual-only 2.0-litre turbo GT 220 Sportwagon ($36,990).
The upgraded MY13 Megane CC will also be available in base ($36,990), GT-Line ($41,990) and Privilege ($43,990) specifications, all with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and CVT auto.
Full MY13 Megane details will be revealed at the launch on July 15.
