Mazda has introduced a new optional Genuine Accessories digital rear-view mirror for its flagship CX-90 in Australia that radically improves the view of what's happening behind.
Using cameras to project a live high-definition feed of the view behind, the digital rear-view mirror is useful for those who regularly carry bulky items that obscure the view behind them. The same tech also eliminates blind spots, enhancing safety on the move.
At night to avoid being dazzled the camera feed can be switched off and the tech reverts back to a traditional rear-view mirror.
Further adjustment for the brightness of the screen is carried out by buttons on the mirror, while a further button for a Homelink garage door is also included.
When not in use the new tech shares the same frameless design of the standard mirror.
Available now to order for the current Mazda CX-90, the new dealer-fit optional extra will also be capable of being fitted to the inbound Mazda CX-70 when it arrives.
Priced from $2568, the optional extra doesn't come cheap but it will be available at all Mazda dealers nationwide and comes backed by a five-year warranty when the mirror is fitted as part of a new vehicle order.
Alternatively, if you've already taken delivery of a CX-90 the digital rear-view mirror can still be added on later to used vehicles but it will only come with a two-year warranty.
