A more rugged Skoda Superb Scout has made its debut following the unveiling of the rest of the facelifted Superb range.
Available with all-wheel drive, it's the first time the Czech car-maker has offered the Skoda Superb Scout wagon in its line-up.
Mimicking its smaller sibling, the Octavia Scout, the flagship Skoda Superb Scout gets suspension raised by 15mm, 18-inch or 19-inch (optional) alloys wheels and underbody armour and the obligatory black plastic cladding and aluminium bash plates to provide some protection from brushes off-roading.
Just two engines will be offered under the bonnet of the Superb Scout – the 140kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel, or a 200kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder.
Both are combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive that enables the tougher Superb wagon to tow loads up to 2200kg.
Helping it be more accomplished off-road, engineers have added a new Off-Road driving mode, that pre-arms the Scout's all-wheel drive for driving in slippery mud and snow conditions.
Dynamic Chassis control, that adds adaptive dampers, is an option.
Inside, the Superb Scout is well-equipped with heated leather and Alcantara seats, wood trim, an electric tailgate, a retractable tow-bar and a sleep package that provides a blanket and headrest adapter for occupants in the second row to doze.
Set to be introduced towards the end of the year, it's not yet known if the Scout flagship will be among the first batch of updated Superbs that are due to land in Australia in 2019.
