Hyundai has pulled the drapes off its 2024 Hyundai Kona Jayde Concept at the SEMA modified car show in Las Vegas that previews a faster, sportier take on the Korean brand’s latest-generation small SUV.
Featuring an exterior wrap inspired by the green hue of a ronin’s eggshell, the Hyundai Kona Jayde Concept gets contrasting black plastic cladding, large 20-inch black alloy wheels and a new body kit that includes a front splitter, side sills extensions and a rear spoiler.
Improving handling, the Kona Jayde sits on new Eibach springs that lower the ride by a whopping two inches (51mm).
Other add-ons include a roof-mounted Thule Pulse Alpine cargo box and a new Thule Epos bike carrier that’s bolted onto the rear tow bar.
Inside, the concept comes with a pair of sporty Recaro Sportster CS seats that are covered with a tartan material.
Other accessories include new floor mats, kickplates and a reversible cargo tray all borrowed from the Hyundai Genuine Accessories catalogue.
There’s no word on what powers the latest Kona concept but it’s unlikely to be an engine that previews a future Kona N, following the news that Hyundai’s performance division will axe the 206kW/392Nm 2.0-litre turbo-four that powered the previous model.
Hyundai is yet to lock in a second-generation Kona N, having insisted for a while now that “production of an all-new, high-performance Kona N will be considered later” with many tipping the fast small SUV to be reborn as an EV.
