SEMA: Nissan debuts special 370Z

Nissan unleashes 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 version of enduring sports car

Nissan has again gone big at this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas with a host of modified cars and trucks, but it’s a two-door 370Z that is garnering most attention.

Called the Project Clubsport 23, the one-of-a-kind Z replaces the existing car’s 3.7-litre V6 for a new 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 – the same as that found in the Infiniti Q50 400 Red Sport.

The Project ClubSport 23 produces 298kW and 475Nm, send drive to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission borrowed from the 370Z Nismo.

Clubsport 23 sounds like a sports bar name, in reality it is a special edition 370Z

There are other bespoke finishes, like the exhaust outlets which poke from either side of the rear numberplate, or the bright orange paint job.

The added firepower is matched by Nismo suspension components, in addition to KW Variant coilovers with Eibach springs for better handling.

Nismo brake pads wrap the car’s Z1Motorsports rotors and stainless steel brake lines, the Project Clubsport 23 finishes off with RAYS wheels shod with Hankook RS4 rubber.

The Project Clubsport 23’s interior gets a light make-over to reflect its sportier premise, with the car’s regular touchscreen and centre fascia replaced with switches and new storage spaces. A sports steering wheel assumes pride of place on the driver’s side of the cabin.

The current 370Z has gone largely unchanged in Australia for the better part of 10 years. Nissan’s NISMO division recently released a fettled version of the enduring sports car, which finished 13th at this year’s Australia’s Best Drivers Car awards.

The Project Clubsport 23 joins several other Nissan offerings at SEMA, namely a pair of Titan pick-up concepts and the aptly-named Nissan Kicks Sound Machine.
