September 2 reveal for 2026 Mitsubishi Pajero

A new report out of Japan claims the all-new Pajero will be revealed in just over a month

The News

The 2026 Mitsubishi Pajero will reportedly debut on September 2. That's the latest word from Japanese outlet Best Car which has speculated the all-new large 4x4 will be shown simultaneously in several key markets, similar to the Kia Tasman.

The Key Details

  • Mitsubishi Pajero reveal set for September 2
  • Date aligns with carsales’ previous informed predictions
  • Aussie range to feature GLX, GLS, Exceed and GSR variants
  • First cars here in December, according to dealers

The Finer Details

Best Car doesn’t cite any sources in its report, but the date aligns perfectly with carsales’ own dealer intel that nominated a late August or early September debut ahead of pre-orders opening before the start of October.

The first demonstrators and customer cars are expected to land on Aussie soil in December, with the Australian range set to comprise the GLX, GLS, Exceed and GSR trims as well as five- and seven-seat configurations.

Concrete details beyond this are few and far between, though the ladder-frame platform is all but confirmed to have been sourced from the MV Triton, with the same true of the 2.4-litre twin-turbo-diesel engine (150kW/470Nm).

An eight-speed automatic transmission is tipped to replace the ute’s six-speed unit and send power to the latest version of Mitsubishi’s excellent SuperSelect II 4x4 system on most versions – the GLX could make do with a part-time ‘Easy-Select’ system as per the Triton and Pajero Sport.

The Road Ahead

No doubt all eyes will be on our news section and Mitsubishi’s socials come September 2, but given how much hype, excitement and debate the new Pajero is generating, we wouldn’t be too surprised if it was leaked in the run up to the big day.

Local pricing and spec probably won't be announced at the global debut, but you can bet it’ll be announced well ahead of the model’s Aussie release in December.

Naturally, carsales will publish all the official information as soon as the embargoes lift and bring you a first drive of the new Ford Everest and Toyota Prado rival as soon as possible.
