SHANGHAI MOTOR SHOW: Skoda teases pure-electric SUV coupe

Kodaiq-based coupe to be Czech car maker's first zero-emission vehicle

Skoda has previewed its first ever pure-electric model, an SUV coupe, that's set to be unveiled at the Shanghai motor show.

The concept that will be revealed has already been confirmed for production and will go on sale after the all-new 2017 Yeti and join the forthcoming sporty Kodiaq Coupe that's due early 2019.

On sale around 2020, It's thought the stylish pure-electric SUV could be the mystery "Model K" that was recently, accidentally, announced following the Czech car maker's product plans were leaked recently.

Almost certain to be based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB electric vehicle platform, the pure-electric SUV will have a range of around 500km when it's launched.

It's thought to share the high costs of development, the pure-electric Skoda SUV will be co-developed alongside another SUV that will be sold by Volkswagen.

Both will share a platform, electric motors and their powerful lithium ion batteries.
