SHANGHAI MOTOR SHOW: Nissan Lannia made for China

Nissan reveals production version of its Chinese-only mid-size sedan

Inspired by both the 2013 Friend-Me Shanghai concept and last year’s Beijing motor show’s Lannia concept, Nissan’s new sedan that shares the same name has been created to snare younger buyers who, in Nissan’s words, see themselves as both “edgy and sophisticated”.

Nissan hasn’t revealed what lurks beneath the bonnet, but we expect the front-wheel drive will come with petrol power, possible a 110kW 1.8-litre that channels its power through the Japanese brand’s Xtronic CVT auto.

Inside, Nissan says the Lannia has been designed to appeal to the more tech savvy buyers with the small sedan coming with a new 7-inch infotainment system.

Designed, created, built, developed and engineered in China, the new Lannia sedan isn’t expected to venture beyond its place of birth.
