Skoda celebrates SUV production milestone
Czech brand notches up three million SUV sales over 14 years, marking the occasion with Kodiaq SportlineSkoda has produced its three-millionth SUV, marking the occasion with a black Skoda Kodiaq Sportline rolling off the production line at its Kvasiny plant.
The production milestone was reached just 14 years after the Czech car-maker introduced its first SUV, the Skoda Yeti.
Since then, Skoda has introduced the Kodiaq, Karoq and Kamiq, the all-electric Enyaq as well as the Kushaq in India.
SUVs now account for half of the company’s global annual sales volume.
The Yeti (2009-2017) racked up 684,500 sales but has been overtaken by the Kodiaq (841,900) and Karoq (705,800).
For the record, Skoda has also sold 537,100 examples of the Kamiq, 166,900 Enyaq models and 63,900 Kushaq SUVs.
To keep up with demand, Skoda now builds SUVs in China, India, Ukraine and Slovakia.
The company is set to unwrap a new-generation version of the Kodiaq in the coming weeks that will feature an advanced plug-in hybrid delivering a 100km pure-electric range.
In 2026, the next-generation Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe are also tipped to be replaced by a larger three-row flagship battery-powered SUV based on the Vision 7S concept.
