Skoda has released pricing and specification details for the 2018 Fabia city-car.
On sale from this week, the upgraded Fabia starts from $16,890 plus on-road costs in hatch form and $18,040 plus on-road costs in wagon form.
The $400 price increase over last year’s model coincides with the introduction of a new 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine, which eschews the outgoing 1.2-litre turbo four.
Two tunes will be offered, as before: a 70kW/175Nm tune in the 70TSI and an 81kW/200Nm tune in the 80TSI.
A five-speed manual transmission does sole duty in the 70TSi model, while a dual-clutch automatic is found in the higher-spec model. Both send drive to the front wheels.
The Fabia continues with a familiar list of standard equipment across both hatch and wagon forms (the latter representing an $1150 premium), many of those accolades helping it land Carsales' Best First Car award in 2016.
Equipment features include a reversing camera, automated emergency braking up to 30km/h, multi-collision brake assist and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
