Skoda has released pictures and full specification of a new crossover derivative of its Rapid hatch.
Called the Rapid Spaceback ScoutLine, the new, more rugged version of the small hatch has been created for those with more active outdoor lifestyles, according to the marketeers.
Featuring matte-black plastic cladding protection on the wheel-arches and door trim, plus redesigned front and rear bumpers, the ScoutLine hints at a more off-road capability but under the skin all-wheel drive isn’t even an option.
Instead, there’s the option of 16- or 17-inch wheels and the choice of three petrol engines -- a 66kW or 81kW version of VW's 1.2-litre turbo-petrol four and a 92kW 1.4-litre turbo-petrol. Just two diesels are offered -- a 66kW 1.4-litre or an 85kW 1.6-litre turbo-diesel.
Skoda says the Rapid Spaceback ScoutLine will also be available in a new colour -- Pistachio Green -- although right-hand drive production has yet to be confirmed and seems unlikely following confirmation that the UK will not import the small Skoda crossover.
