Skoda has created a 1.5-metre tall ‘RS Mega Man-Pram’ for its latest wacky TV commercial, this time for the UK launch of its fastest model ever, the new Octavia RS.
Described as the ultimate accessory for new dads and “fit for a king”, the high-performance baby buggy is just one of a number of oversized everyday objects featured in the UK TVC that has debuted on YouTube.
Apart from linking it with the birth of Prince Cambridge, Skoda says the RS-inspired pram is a perfect fit with its recent survey of 1000 fathers, which found that 76 per cent would spend more time pushing a pram “if they had access to a higher spec and more stylish buggy”.
Inspired by the new Octavia RS sedan and wagon – which arrive Down Under in the first half of next year, following the launch of mainstream MkIII Octavia models here in November – Skoda’s RS Man-Pram features wing mirrors, hydraulic suspension, 20-inch alloy wheels, oversized brake calipers, anti-stress grips and a headlight for night walks.
“Tots lucky enough to be carried on board can look forward to ‘sports-style upholstery’ and ‘adjustable lumbar support’,” says Skoda UK.
“The RS Mega Man-Pram proves what you can do when you take the RS vision off-road and drive it straight into the nursery,” said Heidi Cartledge, Head of Marketing at Skoda UK.
“We used it in the new Octavia RS TV ad because we wanted to bring to life the idea of enhancing the performance of everyday objects. The high tech-buggy gives a tongue in cheek sense of what you could experience if you RS’d your life.”
