Skoda Vision GT previewed

Sporty new SUV previewed in series of design sketches

Skoda has begun the information drip feed for a new SUV that it plans to unveil at China’s Shenzen motor show in June.

The Skoda Vision GT is a sporty new SUV that shares more than a passing resemblance with the hotly anticipated Scala hatchback bound for Australia mid-2020.

Front and centre on the Vision GT is the Czech car-maker’s bold lines, corporate face and 3D grille, and large alloy wheels that appear to measure at least 20 inches in diameter.

The styling and positioning of the Vision GT has led many to speculate it previews a GT version of the China-spec Kamiq.

At this stage, the Vision GT appears a China-centric model, hence its confirmed debut in Shenzen. carsales.com.au will keep tabs on the car’s Australian prospects closer to its unveiling.

"The Vision GT will be presented at the 2019 Shenzen Motor Show at the beginning of June," Skoda said this week.

"It is the modern urban car and the new sporty Skoda SUV for China."
