Special-edition Kia Stinger Carbon and Sorento Black editions outed

Carbon-fibre clad Stinger sports sedan and blacked-out Sorento SUV specials join Kia range

Kia Australia has released a new pair of special-edition models: the Kia Stinger Carbon Edition and Sorento Black Edition.

The Korean brand has given its recently updated Lia Stinger sports sedan, which does highway patrol duty in Queensland, West Australia and the Northern Territory, a range of carbon-fibre exterior accessories to set the Carbon Edition apart.

Based on the flagship GT variant with no changes to its 272kW 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 or eight-speed auto, the Carbon Edition adds a carbon-fibre grille surround, bonnet vents, side mirror caps, front quarter vents and rear diffuser.

The black exterior add-ons contrast with a new Neon Orange paint colour, plus Micro Blue, Hichroma Red, Snow White Pearl and Aurora Black.

On the inside, the raciest ever version of the Stinger, an eventual replacement for which is yet to be confirmed, gets an Alcantara-clad steering wheel and a Carbon Edition centre console badge.

The Kia Stinger Carbon Edition commands a $7200 price premium over the top-shelf GT ($60,790 plus ORCs), but at $67,990 drive-away it includes statutory on-road costs.

At the same time, Kia has introduced the Sorento Black Edition to slot in between mid-spec SLi and top-spec GT-Line variants of the large SUV, which will be replaced by an all-new model late next year.

As the name suggests, the Kia Sorento Black Edition SUV gets the dark treatment via a gloss-black grille, roof rails and side mirror covers, dark chrome door garnishes and gloss-black 19-inch alloy wheels.

A panoramic sunroof, tinted windows, black front and rear skid plates and ‘Ice Cube’ LED fog lights are also standard.

The Kia Sorento Black Edition is available with the 3.5-litre petrol V6 for $48,990 drive-away or 2.2-litre turbo-diesel for $52,490 drive-away -- $2000 more than the front-wheel drive SLi variants on which they’re based but including on-road costs.

There will be four colour options to choose from (Clear White, Silky Silver, Aurora Black and Snow White Pearl) and all models come with Kia’s seven-year warranty, capped-price servicing and roadside assist program.
