Honda has teased its next-generation 2023 Honda Accord ahead of the mid-size sedan’s unveiling in the US next month and its Australian launch next year.
This will be the 11th iteration of the long-serving Honda Accord, and it’s now clear the new-gen model will take on a more aggressive look.
Up front is a new hexagonal grille filled with black mesh which leads into the darkened surrounds of a sunken rectangular headlight arrangement.
Two sharp crease lines stem from the nose cone back along the bonnet while the lower grille has a broad, narrow opening with horizontal slats.
At the rear there’s a wide lighting signature, subtle integrated lip spoiler and a plump rear bumper finished off by a gloss black lower lip.
It’s clear Honda is trying to reinvigorate a sense of attitude and sportiness into the new Accord, aligning it more closely with the latest Honda Civic.
The company says the sporty new look will be paired with “a more responsive and fun-to-drive hybrid powertrain”, which is expected to be a reworked version of the current Accord’s 2.0-litre petrol-electric unit, local versions of which produce 158kW/315Nm.
Inside, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen will be the biggest digital interface fitted to any Honda production car to date and will also serve as the brand’s first integration of Google built-in.
A digital cockpit can also be seen.
Honda Australia has already confirmed the new Accord will be making it onto local roads next year, coinciding with the model’s 50th anniversary Down Under.
