SPY PICS: 2019 Ford Mondeo outed

Upgraded mid-sized wagon spotted before upcoming debut

The facelifted 2019 Ford Mondeo has been spied undergoing final evaluation in wagon form, just months before its anticipated debut.

Seen here with minimal camouflage as part of a mid-life facelift, the fourth-generation Mondeo is destined for Australian showrooms next year.

However, the future of the Mondeo beyond the update remains under a cloud following Ford of America’s decision to cull the mid-sizer’s US sister model, the Fusion, from its revised SUV/LCV-focussed line-up moving forward.

Set for debut at either the Paris motor show in October, or early next year, the revised Mondeo will feature updated exterior styling comprising tweaked visuals front and rear, plus a new dashboard including a ‘floating’ touch-screen like those seen in the new Ford Focus range.

There will also be more safety equipment including Ford’s latest Co-Pilot 360 software, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

The Mondeo’s engine line-up will include a new 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine related to the EcoBlue engine that powers the 2019 Ford Ranger and 2019 Ford Everest .

Australian sales of the European-sourced Ford Mondeo are set to commence mid- to late-2019.
