UPDATED 12/03/2023 5:00pm: Honda Australia insists it only has about 4000 new vehicles currently in stock, and we've deleted one of the spy shots to protect our source.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE PUBLISHED 11/03/2024 8:00am: First examples of the 11th-generation Honda Accord have started arriving in Australia ahead of the all-new flagship sedan’s official local release.
Snapped at the Adelaide docks recently, these images show the new-generation Accord being loaded up for dispatch to pre-delivery centres and then dealerships in readiness for their release, which Honda Australia said would take place in the second quarter of this year.
The Japanese brand announced last month it had secured additional stock of the rabid Civic Type R hot hatch and it seems its improved supply situation has extended to the bigger new Accord given first examples are here earlier than expected.
Indeed, carsales understands Honda Australia has the best part of 10,000 new vehicles in stock across its five-model range – including the Accord, Civic, CR-V, HR-V and ZR-V – which is good news for buyers.
However, it’s not so good news for Honda, which moved to an ‘agency’ sales model including higher, non-negotiable national drive-away prices for all of its models in mid-2021.
Last year Honda sold 13,734 vehicles – including 144 Accords – which is down from 14,215 in 2022, 17,562 in 2021, 29,040 in 2020, 43,868 in 2019 and 51,424 in 2018.
Australian pricing and specification details are yet to be announced for the new Accord, but it should only be a matter of days before we get confirmation on how much the all-new hybrid-only mid-size sedan will cost.
The outgoing Accord starts from $57,900 drive-away, with the hybrid version priced from $61,900. Given Honda’s newest answer to the Toyota Camry will be offered here exclusively in e:HEV form, it’d be safe to expect a $60,000-plus starting price.
