The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is already one of the most striking-looking EVs on the road, and it might be about to get even more handsome depending on how the facelifted version finishes up when it’s revealed next year.
Our European spy photographers have just captured a heavily disguised prototype of the 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 being tested in Germany, showing off new bumpers front and rear as reference points to the incoming overhaul.
It’s unclear whether the updated styling will be paired with any mechanical upgrades, given the popular EV scored a significant upgrade last year.

The Model Year 2023 update introduced the bigger battery and more powerful motor combinations as seen in the related Kia EV6, complemented by a new chassis tune to help improve the ride and handling balance.
We’re expecting the 2024 line-up to receive software updates to eke slightly more range and power out of each model’s respective drive system, while the cabin will likely score minor upgrades to match the new exterior design. Count on a tech boost, too.

Hyundai declined to comment on the incoming IONIQ 5, which is expected to land in Australia later next year.
With such a big power and performance deficit between the current dual-motor variants and the flagship IONIQ 5 N, we wouldn’t be surprised if the standard versions’ kilowatt count was raised.
The current model is good for 168kW/350Nm in single-motor guise, while the entry dual-motor powertrain hums out 239kW/605Nm (5.1s 0-100km/h) compared to the N’s rabid 478kW/740Nm (3.4s 0-100km/h).
