The facelifted 2025 Genesis GV60 has been spotted undergoing development testing in Europe ahead of its anticipated global debut either late this year or early next, and it will almost certainly be fitted with the updated Hyundai IONIQ 5’s new 84kWh battery pack.
Spied by our covert photographers wrapped in dense camouflage last week, the facelifted luxury electric SUV is expected to bring some minor cosmetic enhancements (bumpers, headlights, wheels) and a reworked interior with upgraded cabin technology, in line with its Hyundai and Kia EV6 siblings.
The new battery pack should add between 25-50km to the GV60’s WLTP driving range, which should be enough to see it at least flirt with the 500km barrier. The current model is good for 470km in standard AWD guise and 466km for the hot Performance version.
Another 6km or so of range will be added by the new ‘active air skirt’ system, which deploys a pair of flaps in front of the front wheels at 80km/h to help reduce drag at cruising speeds and generate more downforce for spirited driving.
The air skirt is designed to operate at speeds of up to 200km/h and retract back into the front bumper below 70km/h.
Cabin changes, meantime, will likely amount to an infotainment system overhaul – bringing wireless smartphone mirroring, a broader range of over-the-air updates and streamlined user experience – and some nicer materials applied to the interior’s major touchpoints, but don’t expect any radical changes to the dash or centre console design.
Odds are the facelifted model line will be previewed by the production-spec Genesis GV60 Magma, the concept version of which will make its dynamic debut next week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The halo performance model is expected to emerge as an upmarket, luxury version of the formidable IONIQ 5 N and has even been spotted testing with the N-car’s brakes and rolling stock.
While the two will likely be inseparable in terms of outright firepower and straight-line speed, the GV60’s wheelbase is 100mm shorter than the IONIQ 5’s, which should make for some even sharper dynamics.
Hyundai debuted the IONIQ 5 N eight months ahead of the updated IONIQ 5 portfolio, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the standard GV60 facelift’s reveal comes at least a couple of months behind the Magma’s.
