SPY PICS: 3 Series Touring

BMW's new premium family wagon busted testing in the German countryside

Following the recent discovery of the new 3 Series sedan testing in paisley camo comes these images of the Bavarian marque's grocery-getter wearing a similar disguise.

The body styling is expected to be an evolution of the current design, modest changes to fascia, fender and bumpers carrying the brunt of the change, to bring the 3 Series in line with the design theme featured on its larger 5 Series sibling.

Like the 3 Series sedan, the wagon seems to sport the same lower bonnet profile and headlamps shaped similarly to those found on the new 6 Series.

Elsewhere however, such as through the glasshouse area, the car appears unchanged.

Likely to be coded F31 when released, the new BMW 3 Series Touring could be with us as soon as next month's Frankfurt Motor Show, meaning a 2012 showroom debut isn't out of the question.

As to whether we'll see the new three-cylinder turbodiesel, hybrid technology or other EfficientDynamics advances, that's still anybody's guess.
