SPY PICS: Audi Q6 e-tron twins caught testing

Fresh spy pics out of Scandinavia confirm Audi Q6 e-tron Sportback will join electric wagon version

The 2023 Audi Q6 e-tron has been spotted testing deep in frozen Sweden as Audi and Porsche gear up to launch the first fruit from their new co-developed PPE bespoke EV architecture.

Developed in tandem with the incoming Porsche Macan EV, the Audi Q6 e-tron will slot into the German brand’s flourishing e-tron portfolio beneath the bigger Audi Q8 e-tron, but could still pack close to 450kW/1000Nm – more than its big brother.

Those figures are linked to the Macan EV, which will share its platform and mechanical set-up with the electric Q6 in an almost identical arrangement to the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT flagships.

The ballistic EV sedan duo’s J1 architecture serves as the basis for the PPE platform, providing an indication as to its performance and charging capabilities.

We’ve already seen the Macan EV flying around the Nurburgring and it’s fair to say it wasn’t hanging around…

As you can tell by the spy images above, the Q6 e-tron will be offered in both wagon and Sportback body styles, with the former anticipated to emerge first in typical Audi fashion.

Sources out of Europe suggest both models will follow in the tyre tracks of their Porsche sibling by a couple of months.

Just like their bigger stablemate, the Q6 e-tron twins are expected to resemble the combustion-engined Audi Q6 in terms of its core design, adding EV-specific touches like a solid grille, more aerodynamic wheels and sleeker bumper elements.

The defining feature of the wider Q6 portfolio is the split headlight arrangement which is clearly present here on the camouflaged prototypes.

At the rear, we can see a tail-light signature almost identical to the latest Audi RS 3 hot hatch, along with a pair of subtly integrated spoilers (above the rear window on the wagon and boot lid for the Sportback).

Both Q6 e-tron models are expected to make their global debut early next year. There’s no word yet on an Australian launch.
