SPY PICS: Chev Camaro update reveals inner self

GM’s updated Chevrolet Camaro is reportedly on the cusp of an unveiling some time soon, and these recent spy photos supplement a story in June 2017 with some hitherto unseen views of the new car’s dash and interior.

Of immediate note is the shift lever: It shows that despite rumours suggesting a seven-speeder lifted from the Corvette is exclusively on the cards, Chev will continue to offer the Camaro with a six-speed manual version. Rumours of a 10-speed auto box option are also likely to be on the money.

Photos of the dash area show the basic instrument panel architecture doesn’t appear to be in for any noticeable changes, while the steering wheel looks to be the same flat-bottomed device in current use.

Externally, the Camaro is expected to pick up a larger grille sitting within a more refined front end, along with a slimmer headlight design. The rump will feature some revisions including new tail light lenses and reworked bumpers.

Although the pricing will be tagged well above its rival, the Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaros will start coming into Australia from the middle of this year after being converted to right hand drive by Holden Special Vehicles’ facility in Clayton, Victoria.

It is not known at this stage whether the local cars will be based on the forthcoming update, which is expected to be seen in the USA towards the end of this year.
