SPY PICS: Hyundai i30 'Fastback' snapped
Low-roof hatch will likely replace three-door model – and is under consideration for OzHyundai is expected to drop its three-door hatch in favour of a new 'fastback' bodystyle set to join its PD-generation i30 range in markets around the world.
The new, chopped-roof hatch, shown here camouflaged and testing in Germany, is yet another flavour of i30, which includes the conventional hatch, a wagon and the Elantra sedan – four distinct bodystyles.
And the Fastback is being evaluated for the Australian market, although Hyundai Australia is apparently some way off from making a decision. If it comes to Australia it may also be offered in amped-up 'N' guise.
Expected to offer a comprehensive range of drivetrain variants – from a one-litre direct-injection three-cylinder up to a 1.6-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder and even a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre for the American market – the Fastback is anticipated to debut at Frankfurt later this year.
