But the very fact these spy pics, furnished by the good folks at Automedia, have surfaced just in time for the Geneva unveiling of the concept is a strong sign the Intrado is very likely riding on the new ix35 platform. Automedia's spy photographers caught the heavily disguised ix35 while Hyundai staff tested the car in Northern Sweden.
Although the new ix35 will be nominally a 2016 model, it will be launched in global markets from late 2015, according to Automedia. The spy photographers also believe that the new model will not be radically different from the current car, although we fully expect some styling details to be tidied up now that Kia design chief Peter Schreyer also has a hand in Hyundai's future product looks.
The new model will continue to offer both petrol and turbo-diesel drivetrains, but as we have reported previously, the ix35 (also known as Tucson in the USA) will be sold in small numbers with hydrogen fuel cell power.
