The car seen here is the pre-production version of the Lexus LF-Gh concept car that has just been unveiled here in Australia for AIMS.
Spotted circulating the Nordschleife at Nurburgring by the spy photographers at Carparazzi, the heavily disguised Lexus GS looks very much like it will combine German large sedan (A6, 5 Series, E-Class) proportions with an aggressive frontal styling treatment, which is where the LF-Gh comes in.
According to Carparazzi, the new GS scores a wider track also, which will contribute to a more planted look as well as aiding cornering dynamics and weight distribution. The photographers believe Lexus will come up with something a little more appropriate for the next decade in the way of a drivetrain. Perhaps, they suggest, there will be a development of the existing 3.5-litre V6, with direct injection. Certainly the eight-speed automatic transmission of the IS F is a strong contender too.
A global media launch for the new car is expected to take place late this year — likely the fourth quarter — with sales commencing early next year.
