SPY PICS: Mercedes-Benz CLS Estate
Three years after its motor show debut, the CLS “Shooting Brake” has been spied testing in EuropeSpy photographers Carparazzi have spotted a road going version of the Mercedes-Benz CLS Estate undergoing testing on European roads.
Slated for production next year, the wagon appears to have lost its two-door "Shooting Brake" concept origins, morphing into a true Estate car based heavily on the styling of the current W218-series CLS.
Mercedes-Benz has not confirmed specifications of the new model, though it is clear it will offer expanded luggage-carrying abilities via stretched bodywork and a raised roofline aft of the C-pillars.
We expect drivetrain choices to be similar to those found in the Estate car's four-door counterpart.
The CLS Shooting Brake will be built at the largest Mercedes-Benz production facility, Sindelfingen, the same plant that builds C-Class and E-Class sedan, E-Class Estate, S-Class, CLS and CL coupes, and the venerable Maybach.
According to Mercedes-Benz Australia, the CLS Estate will be an obvious contender for our local market, but at this stage would not speculate on timing.
