SPY PICS: Next Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupe

Flagship 205-series C-Class Coupe anticipated to take performance up a notch or two

A local launch for the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe is now looking less likely for late in 2015.

Previously, motoring.com.au had been told that there was a remote chance the swoopy two-door with all the fire-power of AMG's new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 would make it here before the end of this year.

Now, however, we understand the next AMG C-Class coupe is more likely to launch here in early 2016, following its global debut at the Frankfurt motor show, after the reveal of the mainstream C-Class coupe in a few months.

Clearly there are still some months of tweaking to be done yet, based on these spy pics from Automedia of a heavily-clad C 63 AMG Coupe somewhere in Germany.

According to the spy photographers, this new C 63 AMG Coupe will adopt a subtler look – more in keeping with the S 63 AMG. That leaves the way open, possibly, for a 'Black Series' kind of offering at some point further down the track.

Not that the C 63 AMG Coupe will be short of power or torque when it reaches Australia – not with at least the 375kW/700Nm output of the sedan in the higher-performance 'S' guise.
