SPY PICS: Nissan Patrol spotted testing in the US

US-spec Nissan Armada certainly looks bigger and more sophisticated than Y62 Patrol

The 2024 Nissan Patrol has finally been caught on camera by our spy photographers following an unofficial sighting in the Middle East, this time in the US where it will be sold as the Nissan Armada.

Expected to be revealed by the end of the year in one form or another – Patrol, Armada or its Infiniti QX80 sister model – the ‘Y63’ Patrol will up the sophistication factor compared to its predecessor with a new twin-turbo petrol V6, nine-speed automatic transmission and a bold new look to match, as previewed by the Infiniti QX Monograph concept.

That more sophisticated look is rumoured to take inspiration from the full-size Range Rover and should mean a more curved front-end and sleeker lighting at the very least, in addition to a more elegant front grille design and finish.

We can see from the spy shots the new model will be noticeably longer than the aging Y62, especially in the rear, with a more rounded front-end gifting the spied Armada a more bulbous overall look.

An oversized grille adds to this new sense of grandeur while the headlights appear to have been sunken down the fascia, though it’s possible that’s because the new units are just significantly taller and camouflaged.

The expected grille change is front and centre, while the tailgate has been heavily reworked to be chunkier, more sculpted and overall more American, which only serves to add to the extra muscularity.

With the Patrol Warrior having just hit the Australian market, the new-generation Patrol is not due on sale locally until mid-2025, depending on supply and production.
