Volkswagen will show its facelifted Passat CC model at the Frankfurt motor show and has been caught testing the new model in the Austrian Alps with some rather clunky disguise cladding at front and rear ends. With the lumpy body extensions that hopefully aren’t a precursor of the real article, the test mule looks definitely overdone in this respect. And the uplifted “boot” padding on the rear deck is definitely not indicative of the final product.
While the basic cab area remains unchanged, VW is apparently adopting its new, more conservative front end design to be complemented by redesigned rear lights and new wheels. The interior has also been updated.
The slinky VW was an early adopter of the four-door “coupe” concept best illustrated by the Mercedes-Benz CLS and is a healthy visual improvement over the regular Passat sedan.
European deliveries of the refreshed Passat CC will begin in the third quarter of this year.
