SPY PICS: New Skoda Kamiq compact SUV revealed

We've recently seen teaser pics of the interior but now the exterior of the upcoming Skoda Kamiq small SUV has been revealed in these recently snapped spy photos of two cars wearing Czechoslovakian licence plates on public roads.

Previewed at the 2018 Geneva motor show as the Skoda Scala-based Vision RS concept, the Kamiq is in the same vein as Mazda's CX-3, Honda's HR-V and Mitsubishi's ASX, and is smaller than the company's $30,000-plus Karoq model that was introduced locally during 2018.

Although Skoda's Vision RS show car flaunted a number of technologies including a multi-fuel powertrain, the production version is likely to be far less exotic: engines are mooted to be conventional three- or four-cylinders from the current Skoda lineup, probably driving just the front wheels.

Skoda's show car was able to run as a hybrid, on electricity, petrol or compressed natural gas, and was also capable of operating in front-drive, rear-drive or all-wheel drive modes with the help of a supplementary rear-mounted electric motor.

We have already tipped the Skoda Kamiq will come to Australia, possibly late this year, at a starting price of around $25,000.
