Slightly smaller than the VE Commodore, Cadillac's CTS and V8-engined CTS-V represent the re-birth of Cadillac in the US. The Americans love them and the CTS is the spearhead for Cadillac's 'Art and Science' styling theme.
A new model for the 2008 model year has been unveiled already (red car in pictures), but before it's even sold to the first customer, Cadillac has begun working on the 2009 model, which will be a facelift.
The big news for 2009 is the speculation that the CTS-V will be marketed with a supercharged 'LSA' engine, but unlike the similar engine fitted to the upcoming Corvette SS / Blue Devil (more here), the CTS-V's blown V8 will be a stock production item.
That has implications for Holden and HSV, since the LSA is a member of the Gen IV engine family and that engine could conceivably make its way into a performance variant of Commodore or Statesman.
The '09 CTS-V seen here was caught during testing by the clever little gnomes at Carparazzi. Cadillac has taken to testing the CTS-V at the Nurburgring, since the car was their first pitch at an export car that could compete successfully with the Europeans on their home turf.
