Stealth motorhome perfect for free camping

A European truck body specialist has built its first dedicated off-road motorhome... and it's a doozy.

Described as the "ultimate overland camper", the Xpedition Pro is based on the rugged Iveco Daily 4x4 cab-chassis powered by a 3.0-litre diesel engine, but it's the sharp-edged, military-inspired styling that really makes it stand out.

The Polish manufacturer says the angular design of the XPro One 4x4 motorhome was inspired by stealth attack aircraft like the famous F-117 Nighthawk, right down to the matching camouflage paint scheme.

Also contributing to the "apocalyptic" exterior look are the flat-cut surfaces and laser cut aluminium details, a very steep rear cutaway and low-slung boomerang shaped tail-lights, along with the "ejection seat" and "stealth" decals.

The composite body is made from 54mm thick fibreglass XPS sandwich panels for superior insulation, with diesel heating as back up during really harsh northern European winters.

With 200 litre fresh and 200 litre grey water tanks and a pair of 160Ah lithium battieres on board, and with the option to fit solar panels, the company says the XPro One can "provide 10 days of existence without any resources".

The 27-degree departure angle and 37-degree approach angle should also make it pretty much unstoppable off the beaten track.

Neither the video or photography supplied show much of the interior fit-out, but it's said to accommodate up to three people with a cab-over bed, kitchenette with sink, two-burner stove and 135L fridge, a separate shower and toilet, and a rear lounge/dining area that can also be used for sleeping.

The XPro One is the first hardcore expedition vehicle from Poland's Lamar Truck Body which specialises in building truck bodies for commercial use.

Keeping the military theme, the same company is also working on a larger, touring motorhome which will be called the "USS Enterprise".
