Subaru introduces WRX do Edition

Less than $2000 extra puts buyers behind the wheel of a WRX Premium with extra STI features

Subaru has announced yet another limited edition model, this time based on the WRX Premium and labelled with the company's latest marketing slogan.

The WRX 'do Edition' costs $47,048 for the manual sedan – less than $2000 over the price of the standard WRX Premium. There's also a Lineartronic (CVT) version priced at $49,048.

With Subaru's Impreza already available in Australia on the modular platform that will underpin the next all-new WRX, it would be easy to assume that the WRX do Edition is a value-added runout model. But it's not. Subaru has a long tradition of offering short-run models at intervals to pique renewed interest. There will be a facelifted WRX later this year, but the modular car will not be arriving here until the year after.

Subaru Australia will limit availability of the WRX do to 250 units and the limited-edition models should be hitting the showrooms in the next few weeks. According to David Rowley, Subaru Australia's National Corporate Affairs Manager the WRX do is "basically a WRX Premium with STI style seats and interior trims, plus 18” BBS alloy wheels in gloss black."

There are no mechanical changes, Rowley says, and the Subaru spokesman expects the limited run will be "snapped up before we blink", as is usually the case with Subaru's limited-edition models.
