Subaru will soon become the last of Australia's 10 most popular brands to offer transparent pricing for routine vehicle maintenance.
The Japanese car-maker's Australian managing director revealed at this week's local WRX launch that a capped-price servicing announcement was imminent.
"It's under consideration and we are looking at it – stay tuned," said Nick Senior.
Toyota was the first brand to offer the peace-of-mind of a capped-price servicing program in Australia across its 200-dealer network in 2008, and has since been joined by all of the nation's top-selling marques.
Mitsubishi followed suit in January 2010, before being joined by Nissan (December 2010), Ford (July 2011), Holden (April 2012), Kia (July 2012) and Hyundai (August 2012).
Kia, Suzuki, Renault, Peugeot and Skoda also offer similar plans, but Subaru remains conspicuous by its absence from the capped-price service set – except for its BRZ sports coupe.
The BRZ (pictured) was the first Subaru to become available with capped-price servicing last year. The image-leading two-door costs $199 to service every nine months or 15,000km at an authorised outlet for the first three years or 60,000km.
Senior would not reveal any details of its first range-wide maximum-price service schedule, but indicated that arriving late to the party would give his company breathing space to offer better value than its competitors.
"Obviously it's an area that we've looked at," he said. "We've had the benefit of being able to look at what everyone else is doing, so we'll sit down and have a close look.
"In the short- to mid-term we'll be announcing something about capped-price servicing."
Expect Subaru's capped service pricing plan to be offered across its nationwide network of 106 dealers in coming months.
