Subaru has uploaded a video that shows the company's Levorg in STI trim being driven through Germany.
Various Subaru execs take part in the video, which runs for three and a half minutes, and what they reveal, according to a Japanese-speaking associate, is that the Levorg STI will be wider and lower than the cooking edition, and it will be fitted with 'Dampmatic' dampers. Further information on the net indicates the engine will be a 2.0-litre DOHC four-cylinder with twin-scroll turbo matched to a six-speed manual transmission only. Peak power and torque will be 227kW and 422Nm, respectively.
The asking price in Japan is reportedly 3.65 million yen (around $46,000) and the car is set to go on sale in Japan from July. There's some doubt about the engine being suitable for Australia, since it has never been sold here previously. The local importer could shed no light on the subject.
"We haven't announced any local line-up yet, for our range…" Subaru Australia spokesman David Rowley told motoring.com.au this morning. According to the National Corporate Affairs Manager for the brand in Australia, official information concerning the Levorg STI is yet to trickle down to Inchcape, the Australian distributor of Subaru cars from FHI (Fuji Heavy Industries, Subaru's parent company).
Invitations to the media launch of the Levorg in Australia are being sent out by Subaru on Monday, ahead of the date at the end of June, Rowley says.
