Suzuki Jimny 3-Door returning in 2026 

The Suzuki Jimny 3-Door will return to Aussie showrooms in the new year armed with more equipment and upgraded safety features, albeit for an extra $2000.

After nearly falling afoul of Australia’s new autonomous emergency braking (AEB) requirements, the Jimny 3-Door is ready to return fully ADR-compliant as per its XL stablemate.

While upgrading the AEB system, the Japanese brand also enhanced the pint-sized 4x4’s equipment levels, with the entry-level Lite gaining a 7.0-inch infotainment system – at the cost of its CD player – and perks such as smartphone mirroring, while the Jimny now features a 9.0-inch unit.

Both trims have gained front and rear parking sensors, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control; nevertheless, it’s likely the latter applies only to automatic versions, and therefore not the Lite.

No changes have been made to the ladder-frame platform, exterior or interior designs, or powertrain.

The 2026 Suzuki Jimny will return to Australian showrooms “in early 2026”, almost certainly with a backlog of orders still to be worked through.
