Suzuki Jimny prices hiked again

Base price of cute baby 4x4 rises by $2500; Jimny now starts at $28,490 plus ORCs as waiting list remains

Pricing for the sold-out Suzuki Jimny has been increased again, as waiting times for the new-generation baby off-roader continue to extend up to a year while demand continues to outstrip supply.

The 2021 Suzuki Jimny manual is now priced at $28,490 plus on-road charges (up $2500), while the auto costs $29,990 plus ORCs (up $2000).

Suzuki Jimny pricing has now increased three times since its Australian release in January 2019, when it was launched at $23,990 (manual) and $25,990 (auto).

Since then prices were increased by $1000 on two separate occasions and the starting price was $25,990 plus ORCs as recently as March.

Despite the price hikes, including the largest and most recent $2500 increase, the new-generation Suzuki Jimny has received no updates since its launch two years ago – apart from power-folding side mirrors in early 2020.

However, Suzuki Australia did introduce a five-year/unlimited-km warranty and a capped-price service program in October 2019.

In 2021, power continues from the same naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 75kW of power and 130Nm of torque, matched to a five-speed manual or four-speed torque converter automatic transmission and selectable four-wheel drive with low-range gearing.

Other standard features for the cult-status compact 4WD include autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning, six airbags, brake assist, hill hold and hill descent control.

Sadly there’s still no sign of a long-wheelbase, five-door, commercial or, better still, ute version of the pint-size two-door off-roader.

How much does the 2021 Suzuki Jimny cost?
