Tesla unleashes 128km/h Autopilot
New software raises Autosteer limit from 88km/h to 128km/hTesla has released a new software update designed to improve its Autopilot 2.0 features on the current Model S and Model X SUV.
The new update, called version 8.1, went live yesterday and is claimed to increase the Autopilot's Autosteer capability's speed limit from the current system's 88km/h to 128km/h.
The US car-maker says that before the latest software goes live the on-board cameras need calibration that involves driving at speeds greater than 88km/h for "several days" on "well-marked highways".
As well as the updated Autopilot 2.0, the US car-maker has also improved the Summon feature that allows owners to move their vehicles in and out of parking spaces without anyone in the vehicle.
Finally, Tesla says it is reintroducing the "Auto Lane Change" feature that allows the driver to initiate a lane change using the turn signal.
The revised Autopilot 2.0 also adds businesses’ open hours on the satnav's maps and Google ratings for restaurants and shops.
The front seat head restraints can now be adjusted via the infotainment system as part of the upgrades.
It's thought the over-the-air update has affected all Australia Tesla models.
