What were the most recalled makes and models of 2025? Glad you asked, because here they are.
While Mercedes-Benz still holds the crown for the most recall notices on-record, it was Ford that took the yearly crown for 2025, issuing no less than 26 different callbacks for its vehicles.
Funnily enough, all of the top five most-recalled models were Fords… though fifth was admittedly a tie between two other models.
All-time record-holder Mercedes dished out the second-most recalls with 11 separate notices being published – less than half of Ford – while Korean twins Hyundai and Kia were third and fourth with seven and six, respectively.

Fifth was a five-way tie between Mazda, Volkswagen, Lexus, RAM Trucks and Peugeot, each – fittingly – with five notices apiece, however their listing order is respective in terms of the total vehicles affected.
As for the most-recalled models, the Ford Ranger took the top spot with five factory summonses, followed by the related Everest SUV (which predictably shared a lot of the same issues), the Transit Custom/Tourneo and Mustang, all of which were issued with four OEM callbacks.
Rounding out the top five was the Ford F-150 which tied with the DS RAM 1500 and Mercedes-Benz GLC on three.

Factory-backed recalls are nothing new in the automotive industry and are primarily used to address and/or rectify any manufacturing or production defects and major quality or safety concerns identified by either a brand or regulatory authority.
“A regular recall can be made either voluntarily or involuntarily,” Edith Cowan University lecturer Dr Shahid Hussain said.
“A company can identify a problem and announce a recall or a regulatory authority can intervene and ask an automaker to announce a recall to ensure consumer safety.”
Easily the biggest and highest profile recall was the infamous Takata airbag saga which affected more than 3 million vehicles in Australia and resulted in some 4.1 million airbags being replaced by OEMs – tens of thousands of low-value vehicles were also written-off because the airbags couldn’t be replaced.
