The overhauled 2025 Cupra Leon is a month away from local showrooms and has been priced from $46,990 plus on-road costs, with three variants to be offered from launch.
Due on Aussie soil next month, the updated Cupra Leon will launch in mild hybrid S, plug-in hybrid VZe and hot turbo-petrol VZx forms, the middle option coming exclusively as a five-door wagon.
Powering the S hatch (from $46,990) is a mild hybrid 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that sends 110kW/250Nm to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Standard equipment highlights on the base model include two-tone 18-inch alloys, heated bucket front seats with power adjustment and memory for the driver, a heated steering wheel, tri-zone climate control, a 12.9-inch infotainment system, sat-nav, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and wireless phone charging.
Headline safety credentials, meantime, comprise active cruise control, speed sign recognition, front cross traffic assist, park assist self-parking and 10 airbags, plus all the usual suspects like AEB etc.
The VZx hot hatch (from $64,990) meantime packs a 221kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol mill capable of going form 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds (with the help of a limited-slip front differential).
Equipment gains over the S include 19-inch ‘Hailstorm’ forged alloys, quad exhausts, extended side skirts, adaptive suspension, an upgraded brake package and Cupra drive profile.
At the top of the pricing tree, the Leon VZe Sportstourer ($69,990) features a turbocharged 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid system good for a combined 200kW/400Nm and 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds.
A full charge of its 20kWh battery pack will provide up to 121km of electric range and contributes hugely to the model’s claimed fuel consumption of just 0.4L/100km.
The VZe builds on the S’ kit list with 19-inch hoops, adaptive suspension, Cupra drive profile, a 12-speaker Sennheiser premium sound system, ‘Moonslate’ leather-appointed seat trim, power tailgate with kick sensor, roof rails and Mode 2 & 3 charging cables.
Cupra Australia said the first facelifted demonstrators will be in showrooms next month ahead of the first customer deliveries commencing in November.
The 245kW/400Nm VZx Sportstourer will arrive sometime in the New Year as the punchier, all-paw cousin of the popular Skoda Octavia RS Wagon.
