A final upgrade for the current Tiguan introduces higher-output diesels and new infotainment systems in the months ahead of the all-new model's launch in Frankfurt this September.
But Volkswagen Australia has told motoring.com.au that the upgraded Tiguan won't be released in Australia – and there will be no further updates of the current model in this market.
Elsewhere, however, the 2.0-litre diesel engines now comply with the Euro 6 emissions standard, and have been fettled for enhanced output. The 103kW version is now rated at 110kW and the 130kW engine now produces 135kW. In revising the engines to meet the emissions standard, Volkswagen had reduced CO2 emissions from the two engines by 17g/km.
Volkswagen names its new audio systems Composition Colour and Composition Media, with the latter featuring a colour touch screen, eight speakers and connections for different external music sources. Discover Media is a high-end satellite navigation system, which comes with an online services package – 'Guide & Inform' – as standard.
Offered at extra cost with the navigation system and Composition Media are two products, 'App Connect' and 'Media Control'. The latter can allow users to control infotainment systems by means of a tablet – even from the rear seat.
While the new infotainment systems won't be introduced here in this generation of Tiguan, we'll likely see them in the altogether new model that's due here around the end of 2016.
